Anikdote on Emerging From the Shadows and into the Spotlight

What kind of music did you listen to growing up and how has that influenced you?
I actually grew up in a Christian household and only listened to gospel artists all the way up until my teenage years! From there, I got into Hip-Hop and RnB artists but honestly I don't think that time in my life influenced me much. However, I learned how to play keys and guitar in church which helps me make chords, but that's about it.
At what point did you decide to create music and become an artist?
My parents were both musicians so I was surrounded by music at home and in church. I got tired of being in a band so I started making music and recording for artists. I used to hear the songs get on  the radio and never got any credit for the hours I put into the songs, so I decided I wanted to be an artist and put myself in the forefront! I always wanted to make music for a living but the frustration of not getting any public recognition was what pushed me to actually become an artist I think.

What can you tell us about the new single "Wastelands"?
It's a hard hitting Bass House track inspired by Joyryde and Habstrakt, so if you like those artists you'll love this! It's definitely a bit different sound than my older stuff like "Turn It Up."

How would you describe the track to someone who has never heard it?
I would say it's house music fused with dubstep!

What do you do when you're not in the studio making music?
I'm usually DJ-ing around London or on tour, but in my down time I really love racing so I watch a lot of F1 and hit the local karting track with my friends quite often.

Given the chance to collaborate with any other producer, who would you pick and why?
Definitely Habstrakt! I think his sound design is just crazy! Eliminate and Virtual Riot are amazing as well!
Best show you've played at so far?
My best show I'd say was South Korea! It was my first outdoor show and I couldn't believe how they treated me, like I was a full celeb. It was crazy!

What are your upcoming plans for the rest of the year and what can we expect to see from you in the future?
My aim this year is to show my versatility, so I'll be dropping a lot of different genres and stepping out from just trap stuff. I also wanna do more self releases and not rely on labels so much, so that's another big goal for this year.

Which three words to describe you and your music?
Melts. Your. Face.
