Axollo is an outstanding Dutch producer who has had releases on some of the best future house channels on Soundcloud as well as Spinnin' Records and Heldeep Records. His latest remix is out now on Strange Fruit!
You have produced future house, bass house, drum and bass, and now this sort of this original, lower tempo future funk music. What can you tell us about some of your musical inspirations that led to these shifts in direction?
I’ve been experimenting with some other genres but there was this one song I heard last year which really inspired me. Kyolo made this track called “Power Off” and I just fell in love. I’ve worked to make my music more melodic and jazzy but I think you can still hear some of his inspiration in my mixes. People seem to be loving it and so have I!
Do you ever plan on bringing your hysterical two-minute tutorials back?
I am! I loved making those weird tutorials and I’m planning to do more. They actually take quite a bit of time to make so I’ve been focusing more of my productions in the past few months. Rest assured that those videos will be making a comeback in the future!

How was your experience performing in Belgium? Do you have any plans to return to touring or live gigs?
Playing in Belgium was insane! There was a group in the back which was fairly relaxed but the group in the front was going out of their minds and pointing fingers at me while I bounced back at them! It was a fantastic experience and I’m really looking forward to doing more shows just like it in the future.

You’ve posted about offering ghost production services. What have been some of your experiences in that line of work and what would you like to say to some of the people who aren’t the biggest fan of that side of the industry?
I’ve been doing ghost productions for a while now. What I do is sell the tracks I made which don’t really fit the Axollo style. In the past, I did an interview with the national news in the Netherlands. As it turned out, Maarten Vorwerk saw it and reached out saying that he’d be interested in a studio session with me!

You’ve sort of taken a break from releasing music and updating your social media over the past few months. What can you tell us about what you’ve been up to during that time and what can we be expecting from you in the coming months?
I’ve been taking sick press pictures and have been working a LOT on getting this Future Funk genre up the charts. It’s all going to really kick off with the release of my solo track “Escape.” Be ready!
