Rodrigo Alejandro, better known as Sunday Noise, is a 16 year old producer and DJ from Peru. He's received support from Kryder, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Dannic, Jay Hardway, Will Sparks, and Marnik to just name a few. He just recently released a track on Sosumi Records, Kryder's label, and has had releases on The Groove Cartel, Arise Records, and Targeted Music.
How did it all start for you?
Well I started playing music when I was eight and I learned a few different instruments like guitar, bass, and drums. I have always been self-taught; I mean I did study at a music school when I was twelve years old but it didn’t really make an impact on me. And how did you come across EDM for the first time? When I was eleven, I saw a Skrillex’s live set from Tomorrowland on YouTube. I just really loved the energy that he gave off and it was the inspiration that got me into production shortly after. I would not have guessed that based on your current style; groove is a far cry from dubstep! How did you eventually settle on producing the groovy tracks you’re releasing now? Well I never tried to make anything crazy like dubstep. I started out by making some random shit like electro house, big room, stuff like that. It was when I heard some tracks from the amazing Kryder that got me into the groove stuff I make today. So how did your career take off? How did you go from producing some random shit to getting released on Sosumi and getting a picture with Kryder? That photo actually has a pretty funny story behind it! That guy has been my hero every since I first heard him. Every time I make a track I send it over to him. He didn’t always give me feedback but I saw that he always gave my tracks a listen. That was pretty much the extent of our relationship until I had the privlidge of sharing the stage with him at the Holi Festival of Colors. Big should out to Enrique, Gigliio and André for that by the way! Anyway after we both finished playing, I had the opportunity to talk with him for just a few minutes. It was truly a dream come true! Turns out he’s also a really humble guy which reinforced what an overall fantastic person he is. Well the next day, I woke up to find an Instagram message from Kryder telling me to keep up the good work and to keep sending my music to him! So I did and one day he responded to my “Al Sur” track and wanted to sign it! That track made it to the top of the Sosumi Records charts when it came out! That’s amazing! How did you manage to get a gig alongside Kryder! My excellent manager from the NDR Team landed that one. They help me get the big gigs and glow concerts. We just sort of found each other and now we’re ready to take on the world! So tell me about school a bit, I mean you're seriously making waves right now! Do your classmates know about your music and gigs? Well I’m currently on my last year of high school but it’s a new school so some of the kids know and some of them don’t. Some are like really big fans, but I’m always Rodrigo around my friends, not Sunday Noise. Are you going to be going off to college next year? Or are you going to be taking time to work on your music? Yeah I’m going to be taking some time to work on my music career. I plan on hunkering down on my production so I can get signed to other big labels and such. I just signed another track last night to a huge label and I’m really excited about that. I can’t give any details about it other than it’ll be out in the summer! I can tell you that I have a track coming out in May on the Kids Records Foundation which is a label that focuses on humanitarian efforts with the proceeds from their music sales. What do your parents think about your music and career so far? They’ve been extremely supportive and are really proud of me and what I’ve been doing. They’re both EDM lovers themselves actually. My dad went to the Ultra Music Festival back in 2006 and my mom jams out to house music all the time! Tell me about some of the places you’ve traveled for your shows. I’ve done shows in Ecuador, Chile , and a lot of different cities in my country of Peru. I’ll actually be going on tour in Ecuador in the coming months. It’s a Sunday Noise solo tour and I couldn’t be more hyped about it! Is there anyone you want to call out? Definitely a HUGE shout out to my buddy Syerse who worked with me on “Al Sur”! He’s another producer from Peru who’s a super talented guy. I don’t really know too much about him because we collaborated remotely on the track, but in the time that we worked together he just gave off these really great vibes! Always got to stay positive in this game! Big thanks to Sunday Noise for taking the time to talk with us! Be sure to follow him on social media for all of his latest music and updates.
