Imagine Festival QR Spotlight: Scales

As part of our coverage leading up to Imagine Festival, we're excited to present an interview with Scales who will be performing at the festival next week. 

Amazonia Stage - Saturday 5pm

How long have you been DJing/Producing? 
I have been Producing/DJing for 8 years 

What's the story behind the name?
I am a Libra by horoscope, I believe we all should live by balance.

How would you describe your music? 
I represent the underground bass music scene. Left field experimental bass with hip hop beats and dubstep bass lines with some melodic ambient textures.

What are you working on currently?
I am dropping a new downtempo EP entitled Calibrate on September 21st as well as playing a headlining gig in Colorado and releasing a official Conrank Remix on Flux Pavllion's label Circus Records in November.

What artists do you have on repeat right now?
Right now been listening to a lot of brutal death metal! Infant Annihilator, Lorna Shore, Necrophagist, and others!

Have you played Imagine before?
Yes I have! This will be my 5th year representing Atlanta bass music at Imagine. Worked my way up to Amazonia stage so I am beyond humbled!

What's your favorite IMF memory? 
Two years ago, I played the Silent Disco with an all original set and made lots of new late night fans. 5AM with two-thousand people all vibing to my sound. That genuine connection is what I live for.

Who are your top 3 headliners to catch this year?
Tipper, G Jones, and Russo! These guys stay away from the mainstream sound and pave their own way!​

Why should festival goers check out your set in particular? What do you bring to the performance?
My sets usually consist of all original content. I tend to stay away from the mainstream "EDM" so you will hear all organic fresh new sounds. I will be repping ATL 808 underground music so my set goes out to all the bassheads and underdogs that put in work! I like to think of myself as the underdog who stays persistent in the love for the music.
