As part of our coverage leading up to Imagine Festival, we're excited to present an interview with Dub Vader who will be performing at the festival.
Shakedown Street, Saturday 7-8 Pm.
How long have you been DJing/Producing?
I'm 26 years old, live in Salt Lake City, Utah, and this will be my first out of state massive festival booking, I went to school at Salt Lake DJ & Production for my DJing and Music Production with Ableton live, I was taught by "Prophet" at that school who has a masters degree in Audio Engineering, I'm signed with Dope Soul Entertainment for bookings and management and I've been doing this for the past eighteen months!

What's the story behind the name?
My name used to originally be Dvb Vater because "Vater" in German means "Father"  technically means Dub Father. I changed my name and spelling to Dub Vader due to people mispronouncing my stage name.
How would you characterize your music? Do you fit within a particular genre?
Yes Dubstep, Riddim, Brostep, and the like!

What are you working on currently?
Dub Vader x Sky Child x Raidn Ft Rico Act "Underground" my biggest unreleased track.

What artists do you have on repeat right now?
Oddproohet, Trvcy, HE$H, Wooli, and Spag Heddy.

Have you played Imagine before?
This will be my first time!

What's your favorite IMF memory?
Just having fun at the festival, camping with all the lovely people from across the world, and seeing a world class production.

Why should festival goers check out your set in particular? What do you bring to the performance?
I brand my sets Dub Vader "Heavy Sets Only" for good reason. When you see a Dub Vader "Heavy Set Only," you can expect to hear a headline type of set with underground music, edits, and remixes of some of your favorite artists buildups and pre-drop vocals, replaced with an underground drop you've probably never heard before. I also bring a ton of energy to my sets. I aspire to be like "Funtcase" when it comes to stage presence and energy that I incorporate into my set to have the crowd feeling my music and resonating with my brand even more.

Who are your top 3 headliners to catch this year?
Svdden Death, HE$H, and the Sullivan King b2b Kai Wachi b2b Kompany.

Thanks to Dub Vader for taking the time to fill out our interview! Be sure to check him out using the links below! For more information about Imagine Festival, click here.
