March 20th saw the Genesis NFT from Don Diablo sell for 110Ξ ($200,732 USD equivalent) to Farzin Fardin Fard, better known for founding3F Music. The NFT itself is a one-of-a-kind hologram that will come with a physical casing which will be set up at the buyer's location to display. It uses a technology that Don Diablo's brand, Hexagon, has been developing for a while involving a customized projector and cartridges which contain the hologram data to display in their custom casings.
The hologram sold in the genesis is a digital replica of Don's first synthesizer and it comes with a track he started when he was 19 years old. According to him, there have been over 150 versions of the song and it took around 250 hours to complete. A preview can be heard on the NFT page.
With all of the hustle and bustle surrounding this new craze and the insane amount of money being poured into it from collectors, investors, and entrepreneurs, it's been great to see how down-to-earth Don Diablo has been throughout the process. The NFT itself is a very personal piece of art and it exemplifies how meaning and true value can be infused into these bits of digital art.
In the video release on his YouTube channel, he teases that an upcoming drop will be in collaboration with Studio Drift. Given the success of his Genesis drop, one can only imagine each subsequent one will be bigger and better.
