Pastland & KMC - Better Off Alone

This song holds a special place in my heart for a few reasons: I would say one of the most pivotal tracks that turned me from a casual fan to a diehard one was "Rhythm of the Night" by Maurice West & SaberZ. I felt that track was nearly as influential to the direction of the genre as "Heroic" by Husman was for big room trance. That pairing of hardstyle synths, disco influence, and the subtle bounce in the drop led to some of my next favorite tracks by TBR, Ragunde, Declain, Simen & Capturam (SixCap), G-Sus, OUTRAGE, and then down to JuHyung, Mike Miami, RAYVEN, Jet Zeith, Jayden Vega, and so many others. All of these artists have fueled this fire that has kept me in the industry over the past nine years. 

When KMC sent over this track back in January or February of this year and I just couldn't help but wonder what it would sound like if SaberZ applied their old 2017-2019 sound to it. With "Tied Up" and "Vulcan," I felt we put a perfect bow on their ultimate sound which propelled them from the underground to further collabs with the likes of Bassjackers, Justin Prime, Andrew Rayel, and Sandro Silva. However, given this wonderful track by KMC, my curiosity to hear that classic, authentic SaberZ sound on it led to what you can now stream on all platforms today. 

Initially, SaberZ put their 2022 Big Room sound over the track and it was shaping up nicely, however I couldn't shake the feeling that we just needed to go a bit further back in time to really make this track timeless. After a bit more workshopping and some fine details - it was just perfection. As a fan, I couldn't believe I was listening to a track like this in 2026. Not a remix, not a dead ID brought back to life, a fresh composition created by KMC and brought up to 110% by SaberZ. I can only hope you have the same experiencing listening to the final track as I did as that would bring just a bit more happiness into this world.
