Cam's Release Radar - Week of May 28, 2021

AXMO & 22Bullets - Mr. BigBoom: Following hot on the heels of 2 W&W collabs comes AXMO’s 6th release on Rave Culture in less than a year of their debut, “The Mind”. Cementing themselves as mainstays on the label alongside KEVU and Sandro Silva, AXMO have shown with this production that they are not going to remake The Mind over and over and will continue to push themselves and their brand of EDM further. Experimenting in Hands Up, Future Rave, and cinematic Big Room, these guys are not shying away from any genre as they have a full stack of collabs on their plate coming this year (thanks, IG Stories). I believe these collabs, including this one with 22Bullets will keep their name relevant as they continue their rise in the scene since you never know what to expect from AXMO (other than quality dance music of course). My favorite part when we are introduced to Mr. BigBoom is the call-and-response structure in the break, which culminates during the second drop. The smiles on Willem and Ward’s faces during Club Mythic 001 tell it all - this is a feel good track that gets the party going. AXMO are one of the most exciting acts to come out recently and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us next.

A State of Trance 2021 Compilation: my other highlight for this week is the ASOT compilation. For the past several years these mixes have powered me through the summer. They are simply the best showcase of Progressive and Trance across many labels, selected and mixed by Armin van Buuren. You’ll hear a slew of new Armin material, various new side projects and creations from familiar artists, and some surprising new variations on genres being represented in the Trance world.
